Size range
| Dimension | Minimum | Maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Diameter | 0.015" (0.38 mm) | 0.375" (9.52 mm) |
| Length | 0.02" (0.51 mm) | 4.00" (101.60 mm) |
Diameter tolerance
Choose an ISO shaft grade; the tolerance band is diameter-dependent in metric and fixed in inch:
| Grade | Inch band |
|---|---|
| H8 | ±0.001" |
| H7 | ±0.0005" |
| H6 | ±0.0002" |
Metric orders add grade H5 and show the computed IT band per ISO 286-1.
Length tolerance
- Standard: ±0.005" (±0.1 mm)
- Precision: ±0.001" (±0.02 mm)
End features
- 45° chamfer or full radius on each end, sized from 0.001" upward.
- A minimum 0.020" (0.5 mm) end flat is kept — a chamfer or radius reduces the diameter only to that point.
- One end may instead be a full radius (half the diameter, no flat).
Materials
- Alloy Steel 4140 — Chromoly alloy steel — high strength and toughness.
- Stainless Steel 303 — Free-machining austenitic stainless — good corrosion resistance.
- Stainless Steel 316 — Marine-grade austenitic stainless — superior corrosion resistance.
- Aluminum 6061 — Lightweight, versatile aluminum alloy.
- Brass 360 — Free-machining brass — excellent machinability.
- Titanium Grade 5 — Ti-6Al-4V — high strength-to-weight, corrosion resistant.
- Aluminum 7075
- Stainless 17-4 H900
- Stainless Steel 304
Quality & documentation
Rudolph, LLC is registered to ISO 9001.
- Certificate of Conformance — every order ships with one, certifying the parts were manufactured in conformance with the applicable drawings, purchase order and specifications.
- Material traceability — each order carries a Rudolph lot number and the material certification number for the bar it was cut from. Records are retained and available on request.
- Material certifications — material certifications are available for all materials where our vendors supply traceable certifications. If they are not available, that will be noted during material selection.
- Inspection — a first-article inspection and an in-process log accompany every run. Sample sizes follow ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, so the inspection frequency is defensible against a published standard rather than chosen ad hoc.
- Dimensional records — measured characteristics are recorded against the numeric limits on the drawing, not signed off as a blanket pass.
