Stainless Steel 303 Dowel Pins
Free-machining austenitic stainless — good corrosion resistance.
303 is the free-machining austenitic stainless: a sulphur addition breaks the chip and lets it be turned faster and cleaner than 304 or 316. That makes it a sensible default whenever a pin needs to be stainless but is not going to live in salt or cleaning chemistry. The same sulphur that helps the cut costs some corrosion resistance, so it is the wrong pick for anything repeatedly autoclaved.
303 is the sensible default for stainless pins that are not going anywhere corrosive: jigs, general assemblies, and anything where the drawing says "stainless" without saying why. It machines faster than its neighbours, which keeps the cycle time down.
Any length, not just the stocked ones
The diameters below are the standard nominal sizes, because that is what a hole is usually reamed for. The lengths are not a constraint: anything from 0.02" to 4" can be turned to order, which is the step that otherwise means cutting a stock pin down and re-finishing the end. Diameters run from 0.015" to 0.375", including sizes between two standard ones.
No pre-priced size pages are published for Stainless Steel 303 yet, but it is fully available in the configurator — enter any diameter and length for an instant price.
