Stainless Steel 304 Dowel Pins

General-purpose austenitic stainless — widely specified, less free-machining than 303.

304 is the stainless most drawings default to — widely specified, widely understood, and adequate for the great majority of indoor and general-purpose work. For a turned pin it sits awkwardly between its neighbours: less machinable than 303 and less corrosion resistant than 316, so it is usually chosen because a drawing already called it out rather than because it is the best fit for the part.

If a drawing calls for 304 specifically, that is what gets made. If it simply says "stainless", it is worth a moment to decide whether 303 (cheaper, better machining) or 316 (better corrosion resistance) is the more useful answer for the assembly.

Any length, not just the stocked ones

The diameters below are the standard nominal sizes, because that is what a hole is usually reamed for. The lengths are not a constraint: anything from 0.02" to 4" can be turned to order, which is the step that otherwise means cutting a stock pin down and re-finishing the end. Diameters run from 0.015" to 0.375", including sizes between two standard ones.

No pre-priced size pages are published for Stainless Steel 304 yet, but it is fully available in the configurator — enter any diameter and length for an instant price.
