Aluminum 7075 Dowel Pins
High-strength aerospace aluminum — stronger than 6061, less corrosion resistant.
7075 is the aerospace aluminium, substantially stronger than 6061 and correspondingly less forgiving: lower corrosion resistance and more notch sensitivity. As a dowel pin it makes sense where a light pin has to carry more load than 6061 can, typically in airframe-adjacent or high-performance assemblies. For anything in a wet or washed environment a stainless pin is the sounder choice.
7075 is for the aluminium pin that needs to carry more than 6061 can. It is worth noting that at these diameters the strength difference is often academic — the joint usually fails at the hole, not the pin — so 6061 is worth configuring first.
Any length, not just the stocked ones
The diameters below are the standard nominal sizes, because that is what a hole is usually reamed for. The lengths are not a constraint: anything from 0.02" to 4" can be turned to order, which is the step that otherwise means cutting a stock pin down and re-finishing the end. Diameters run from 0.015" to 0.375", including sizes between two standard ones.
