Stainless Steel 316 Dowel Pins

Marine-grade austenitic stainless — superior corrosion resistance.

316 is the default when the part will see saline, cleaning chemistry, or repeated autoclave cycles. The molybdenum addition over 304 buys meaningful pitting resistance, which is why it dominates medical and marine work. It is gummier to machine than the free-machining grades and work-hardens readily, so it is turned slower here — that shows up in the price rather than in the finished tolerance.

Most 316 pin work that comes through here is medical: instrument frames, handpiece internals, and fixturing that has to survive the same wash cycle as the parts it holds. If the assembly sees saline or repeated autoclaving, 316 is the safe answer, and it and 303 sit close enough together that the decision is about the environment rather than the quote.

Any length, not just the stocked ones

The diameters below are the standard nominal sizes, because that is what a hole is usually reamed for. The lengths are not a constraint: anything from 0.02" to 4" can be turned to order, which is the step that otherwise means cutting a stock pin down and re-finishing the end. Diameters run from 0.015" to 0.375", including sizes between two standard ones. Pricing in Stainless Steel 316 starts at $2.85 per piece at 100 off, and falls further at higher volumes.
