Aluminum 6061 Dowel Pins

Lightweight, versatile aluminum alloy.

6061 is the general-purpose aluminium: light, easy to machine, and dimensionally stable. As a pin it is a locating feature rather than a load path — aluminium galls and wears against steel, so a 6061 pin in a joint that is opened repeatedly will not hold its fit for long. It earns its place where mass matters more than durability, or where the pin must match surrounding aluminium structure.

Aluminium pins are a niche but real request: alignment features in aluminium structure where a steel pin would create a galvanic couple, and mass-critical assemblies where a few grams matter. Do not expect them to survive repeated assembly and disassembly the way a stainless pin will.

Any length, not just the stocked ones

The diameters below are the standard nominal sizes, because that is what a hole is usually reamed for. The lengths are not a constraint: anything from 0.02" to 4" can be turned to order, which is the step that otherwise means cutting a stock pin down and re-finishing the end. Diameters run from 0.015" to 0.375", including sizes between two standard ones.

No pre-priced size pages are published for Aluminum 6061 yet, but it is fully available in the configurator — enter any diameter and length for an instant price.
